Altered Cloth Bound Books!

I've seen a few people alter old used books and thought it was a FABULOUS idea!!! You can get Cloth bound books at yard sales, consignment stores, or most second hand stores! I got mine at my local Youth Ranch for about .50 cents each!!! Can't beat that for a cheap project base!!!

This first one was simple but the my FAVORITE! All I did was paint the book white and distress with some Tim Holtz distress inks to give it an old grungy feel! I ADORE these resin wings from Melissa Frances (I could go broke buying these things) and a little abstract finding I picked up! I have a new obsession with thick wired ribbon too!!!

This one was a thin little book I thought would be great for a small journal. I've used one of my favorite texture techniques and boiled layers of paint and sprayed with glimmer mist! I painted some metal embellishments white and distressed with black ink!

I plan on doing so many more of these too!! What a great gift idea!!! I was thinking a set of three would be perfect for a little journal set. I plan on gluing pages together and painting them white and adding my own graphics and lines!!!

A friend of mine is getting married in February and she really wanted something unique for her sign in book so she asked me to make her one. When she receives her wedding photos I will also be making her a layout to add to the book and then thy will use the rest to journal about married life :)

Baby Album

I made an album for a friend and it has caught on like wildfire! I now have several friends requesting that albums be made for certain occasions. This particular album was made for a teacher of my daughters who is due to have a grand baby in February. Names are not certain yet so that is why there is a lack of titles and the empty bookplate on the front.

Papers are from Graphic 45's Baby 2 Bride collection, I just LOVE these fabulous colors and knew instantly that these are the ones I wanted to use!!! The envelope on the last page will soon say keepsakes for all of those little baby memorabilia that you just cant bear to part with, but for now I am out of the right letters for it and will be getting more tomorrow :) Thank you so much for looking!!!

I have been going through a lot of changes lately just trying to be myself! Ive cut some negative energy that was totally draining me out of my life and I have never felt more relieved or better about myself!!!

Its so hard to do a layout about myself but this layout was so therapeutic and a really great way to document these changes!

Hidden Journaling Says: I have been through so many changes these last few years! One being, I have learned to be me!!! Im at the age now where I can be who I want without worrying what others think even if it means going a little outside the box and being a bit of a REBEL!

My daughter has been getting tutoring lessons from her preschool teacher all summer long to prepare her for kindergarten and she is so wonderful letting me work off some of what I owe her for fees with scrapbooking (she is seriously my savior) these photos are of her adoptive son COVERED in mud and I LOVE THEM!

This photo was taken before I was into photography so the picture quality is low but I just love it anyways!

These bubbles are super easy to make! I used some left over transparency cut them out roughed up the edges and painted them with a pearl glaze focusing around the edges a bit to get that bubble look!

Well after 7 years and 3 kids me and my long time fiance have finally taken the leap and gotten married. Our special day was on June 20th and this was one of my favorite photos of me and my Dad when he was walking me down the isle!

I love these soft romantic colors in the baby 2 bride line from Graphic 45 they just went perfect with the natural flowers from Prima and it was kismit that the photo went so well, I was out of color ink and looked through my already printed photos and it was like "Magic" that this one just fit soooo well!

This phot was actually a SUPER awesome gift from the very talented Design Team member Jeni Boisvert Isnt it just AMAZING!!!

Fairy Tale...Glimmer Mist Layout

I was asked at work to put together a Demo on Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels and got this fabulous idea from a very talented lady over at Scraps of my Mind Blogspot http://scrapsofmymind.blogspot.com/ She used these awesome sprays as watercolors by utilizing a paintbrush here FunkiestBike for more shimmer and deeper color you can dig down to the bottom of the bottle and for a more watercolor effect use the watery goodness at the top! I used my silhouette machine to sketch and cut the flowers and just filled in the rest. This was the most fun and simple project with such a dramatic effect!

By the way! The aweome Jenni Boisvert photoshoped this fabulous photo for me just for fun! She is such a sweet lady! For here etsy and blog information just search my older posts, she is UBER talented!!!

Here in little ole Idaho is this amazing sight called Shoshone Falls! It is a beautiful waterfall that jumps a 212 ft stance and is just breathtaking to witness. Every spring when the run off from the mountains has melted they release the water from the dam and usually announce it in the paper so that people can come and see it before the farmers start to drain the water to irrigate their fields. This was our first time here and man it was such an awesome sight! I got some amazing photos and just HAD to scrap them!

A Rose By Any Other Name

This photo of my daughter Destiny is not the best quality because it was taken with a cell phone about a year before I took a fancy in photography. This was taken while my husband was away at police academy and things were kind of hard, but Destiny always made me stop and take time to smell the roses. Doesn't she just look so sweet! Im usually not very good at flowers but these coordinating packages from Prima made it SO easy and seamless!

Star Technique

Ive had a few requests asking how I made my stars in my last layout so Ive decided to make a technique post. I think everyone will be shocked at how easy these lovely little stars are to make.

First step is to trace or draw a star shape on a scrap or any desired paper. Here ive chosen white so that you all can see it better.

Next cut out the star.

Next grab a pen and a ruler or any straight edge and draw a line down the center of each arm all the way down.

Now we take our star and fold along each crease leaving the marks on the inside of your crease so that they will be on the back side of your star.

Next is the most fun and final step, ink each of your creases and edges and Viola you have an awesome barn style star! So easy!

SHIMMERZ!

OMG the rockin Jeni B gave me some of these amazing paints called Shimmerz in my prize package a couple weeks ago and I just used them for the first time and I am star struck! I love the little babies! You can totally control your level of bling by the amount of paint you apply and let me tell ya, a little goes a LONG way! Here I used them on my flowers that I made into neat little magnets for a handmade note board.

I purchased a small cork board for $2 but the cork was very thin and I really didnt like the look of the cork but loved the size and the framing so I found a magnetic dry erase board for $3 and ripped it apart to salvage the thin piece of metal and cut it to size and it worked PERFECT!

It is so hard to show shimmer in a photo but these things are just lovely in real life, take my word for it? You can find them on ebay and will hopefully be available at the store I work at soon so let me know how interested you are and I can deffinetly find you a place to get them :)

I had the wonderful honor of meeting Jennie Boisvert last week! Jenni is the Design Team coordinator for Bad Girls and Designs for some of my favorite companies! Since she only lives in the next town over she drove over and gave me my package in person and I feel like I made an instant friend! Here is my son Kaine when he was just a couple of weeks old, this picture always makes my eyes well with tears because he was so tiny and so innocent sleeping away. He is our last baby so all of these moments are bittersweet as he grows up Im so happy for each milestone but so sad that this will be the last time I get to experience these memories :(

Crazy Week!

Man what a week!

On Monday night my hubby took us all out for dinner and when we got back we had just put the kids to bed and the lights started to flicker and we heard this popping noise, our meter box is on the outside of our house so im always afraid that someone sore with james being a state trooper will sabotage it and the noise started to sound like someone knocking on the back of our house, so we run out there and our friggin meter box is ON FIRE and sparking, so hubby has me call 911 and tells me to get the kids in the car just in case the house catches on fire! The fire truck and everything came (i was so embarassed) they also called the power company and turned off the power thank god cause the pole everything was connected to reached 150 degrees and was close to the flash point where it would have caught the house on fire. It took us all day tuesday to get the whole box replaced, the electrician said that it melted the plastic on a very important wire and if it would have burnt it that everything in our house would have been hit with 250 voltz and would have been fried!

THEN....this morning someone went to our house and a fellow troopers house (close friends of ours) and flattened all the tires on thier cruisers, they didnt get our personal vehicle but they got our friends personal vehicle and even his neighbors truck that was parked close to thier house! Just makes me so mad cause what if there was somone needing help? and to think that punk vandals were on my property touching our things and were so close to my children makes me sick! Good thing though is that they didnt slash the tires but just put pellets in the air stems but it still makes me mad!

So SORRY for the tangeant but its been "exciting" here lately lol!

A great photoshoot with my daughter turned out these awesome photos! Mostly Basic Grey papers. I love stitching on my layouts but don't have a sewing machine so I do it all by hand but I think it adds character anyway.

My daughters first thanksgiving with her "Puppa" in 2008, she was just a couple of weeks old in this photo and it is a very precious photo to me. This is my husbands grandfather and he has been very ill this past year so I have been trying to cherish every memory and moment made with him! New Making Memories Noteworthy paper and Creative Imaginations Die-Cut paper.

This cool little project was inspired by a scrapbook.com forum challenge where you use 1X1 pieces of paper as your base and the possibilities are limitless! I chose butterflies as I do for a lot of things lol. I think I will put these is a simple antiqued white frame and hang it in my daughters room.

This whole project was made using just one pack of Tim Holtz Grungeboard! The frame was just $2.00 at Wal mart! Love it!

Jeepers Creepers

This was from a challenge on the scrapbook.com forums. We don't often scrap ourselves but how great will one of these layouts be for our children to look back on? Our task was to scrap something that made us unique and I chose my green eyes! I used lots of Daisy D's paper and Marah Johnson flower brads. I painted on some couregated cardboard and used it as a stamp for a background to lay my photo on. I stamped my own frame onto a transparancy Added some prima paper and prima fancy flowers and used some Tim Holtz inks. Again I used Basic Grey Mellow Letter Stickers.

My daughter Destiny turning 3! The circle is cut from making memoris paper and the butterflies are traced from Heidi Swapp ghost butterflies and cut from the same making memories line of papers. I painted some Basic Grey Mellow stickers pink and used numbers from a colorbok chipboard pack. And of course prima flowers and say it in crystals!

This Layout is one of the first ones that I was proud of! This is my daughter Destiny at a friends wedding in 2004. Mostly Jenni Bowlin papers. The butterflies are all hand drawn and cut and inked with colorbox cat eye chalks. I used Fiskars templates to make my frame and crackle painted the title! Thank you so much for taking a look!
